is the lemon steeped in water safe for kittens as flea control?
if i dampen cooled mixture made from steeping lemons in water and then dab it on the kittens would it be a safe way to ward off the fleas living on them?
i am most likely going to use borax on the carpet. the lemon on the cats and kittens will just coax them off the cats and onto the carpet. which should kill the fleas and proceed to stop their reproductive cycle.

I’ve never heard of lemon being used. To be safe, I would ask a vet. However, cats in general HATE citrus of any kind. Kitty might not like smelling lemony.
My tried and true remedy for fleas is a comb out with a flea comb that you dip in soapy water (Dawn dish soap is a wonder).

Brewers Yeast mixed in water, or sprinkled on food does wonders. And it’s naturally safe. You can also purchase natural flea collars, or make your own using cedar, or penny-royal plants.
Wash their bedding in Pine Sol in hot water, and dry in hot dryer. Pine Sol kills all the fleas, and eggs.
edit: If your cats lay on the carpet they are likely to gather Borax dust in their coats, which in turn will make them sick. It absorbs through their skin, and when they lick to clean themselves. Brewers Yeast comes in powdered form so you can use it on your carpet, and furniture as well. Plus it is not harmful.
I agree when it comes to kittens it is worth the time investment to get rid of the fleas and not use anything that could interfere with the cleaning process.
